Egr valve help

I'm working on my 87 gmc sierra 350 tbi. I got the code 32. The truck was surging while running down the interstate. I unplugged the egr harness and the idle cleaned up. The problem I'm having is figuring out which egr valve to get. I pulled the egr valve off and I can't find a oe part#. The only number on the valve itself is 037a0k23. I tried googling this part number and I came up with nothing at all.

Re: Egr valve help

That looks like it might be a replacement valve.

The originals usually have the #'s stamped into the metal. Many replacements just have a sticker on the top where the installer can write in the part number off the old valve for future reference. It looks like yours might have had a sticker in the center at one time.

About the only thing I see that might be helpful to you in figuring out what valve you need is what appears to be the letters "POS" printed on there. I think that indicates that it is a positive backpressure type valve.

Ya, it had the sticker on top of it. I peeled it off to see if their was a number on it but it was completely blank.

Re: Egr valve help

For my 1989......the original AC Delco EGR valve that I pulled off was: 17087194
This was also the same EGR valve number on my 1991 Suburban.

Number also updated and here is some info:
