lowering my 68 swb
heyguys!
Icurrently have a stock frontend, when Ibought it, it came with 5 lug discbrake upfront. it has factory control arms and bolt in ball joints. I'm not 100% sure which route to.take.. I would love a mild/extreme Porterbuilt.. but that is kind of expensive for me right now. so I'm leaning towards dropspindles.. any input and ideas would be greatly appreciated! |

Re: lowering my 68 swb
Do porterbuilt stage one and add the drop member later as you can reuse most of the parts

Re: lowering my 68 swb
If you go with bags the stage 1 would just be bags and cups and you reuse your stock control arms. I would still run a drop spindle anyway to get you that extra 2.5" drop. I would run the stage one front with the stage 2 basic rear kit that way you get there adjustable panhard bar, c-notches and shock crossmember. That with the stage one front would make for a nice kit. Very nice truck by the way.
Check out this thread, he did a great job showing the different stages of his Porterbuilt suspension. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=609897

Re: lowering my 68 swb
For the 6x-87 C10's.... drop spindles before any other lowering mod. Then, if additional drop is desired, go from there. On 6x-70 trucks, swapping to disc brakes is 2nd behind the drop spindles just for the improved braking.
You need to determine how much drop you want. That helps determine which 'way to go'.

Re: lowering my 68 swb
your truck has been converted to disc brake. There are several methods used ranging from stock parts to aftermarket kits. You will need to determine what was used to order the correct era drop spindle.
