Question Cargo Lamp Conversion

I've been searching for information on converting my cargo light to a third brake light. I found that a lot of members here have done various types of conversions and I was wondering if I could just replace the existing lamp with a bright red led. Of course I'd have to run a wire or two but it seems like this might be the simplest way to do it. I noticed that the existing lamp has two posts and a single filament. Does anyone know what LED lamp is used to replace with?

Subscribing, but would be curious of you could have both a 3rd brake light with a built in cargo light

Yes, I read up on a few of them but what I'm interested in is to just replace the cargo lamp (Bulb) with a red LED and wire to brake switch.

Re: Cargo Lamp Conversion

I am looking at doing the same thing. I picked up a small LED light from Advanced Auto and have done a mock set up. I think I can get it to work without having to remove the cargo light bulb. I'm waiting for it to warm up so the adhesive will stick.

Re: Cargo Lamp Conversion

I'm not sure if you are just wanting an LED, or if you want something different. Check out this thread It is the one to which LockDoc was referring.
