Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Yes that is true, I love Texas but the summers can be a bit tough. The truck is going to be my daily driver, well sort of, I have recently retired so it will not be driven daily, but will be my driver when ever I need to go somewhere. I checked the surface temp today after being in the sun for about 45 minutes. My gun said 132 degrees!! And it was only 100 degrees today outside.

Thanks 1963c-10. Lots more to do. Taking it day by day. If the heat would go away I could make more progress....lol. I turn into a puddle in the heat. Hardest thing in painting frame was keeping from dripping sweat on the new paint......lol.

trying to figure out why rear tire is rubbing front edge of bed on drivers side, im pretty sure rear gets pushed to right when lowered, discovered trailing arm bent upwards.

I found out the lower you go the farther the axle arcs forward. Now I got PorterBuilt trailing arms to correct that.

Picked up a factory stereo for free the other night. Dunno if it works but I plan on sending it in for a conversion to new tech in the future.

Have you used new tech before? I have an oem radio for my 63 that I'd like to have converted. Just wondering about cost.

Nah but I've heard of it. There was slated thread on it. I'll look for it on my lunch break.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

Today was the busiest day that I have had. Installed a 2.5 drop and disk brakes on the front, lowered the back about 2-3 inches and installed new water pump and brake lights. Will try to upload the pics tomorrow.

Worst case....I did see a single for sale on ebay last night. Saw a pretty dented up set of 4 also.
Sounds good--I appreciate you looking into it! I've been all over eBay and can't find a chrome one (saw the set $$$$), but maybe I just searched wrong.

Thanks!
I'll see if I can find the single cap in case I don't have an extra. The set looks ok, but a lot of dents and he tries to get high $$$ on all his caps.

Shot the last two coats of paint on the interior of the '65 C10 project this morning, and unwrapped the cab this afternoon. After all the time and effort, it sure is nice seeing the ideas become reality. It will get a repro black firewall insulation pad and a black vinyl full floor covering.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part II.

My son Ray and I framed out the sills then pulled the bed to set it up on stands so we could install the bed wood, tubs, etc.

Figured out some filler panels for the wheel tubs since we raised the floor 3" we had a gap to close with the bed sides.

The chunk of scrap wood is a piece of the old yellow pine we started with to make these boards.
