Which Magnaflow muffler would you recommend?

I will need a new exhaust once my truck is finished and I am buying the pieces I need now. I have a 70 fleetside with 307/3ott and I plan to run a Magnaflow y pipe and single 3" in/out muffler. I have used several mufflers over the years, but never a Magnaflow, so I figured I would try one. What would you recommend? Not looking to wake up the neighborhood, but a nice rumble is fine.

Re: Which Magnaflow muffler would you recommend?

magnaflow are sold by the length and the shorter they are the louder they will be. The good thing about them is that they never get LOUD. They all have a little sound at idle and get deep as the RPM's go up. I have a 14" on my 13 silverado and its a nice deep sound at idle and sounds a little racey when you get on it. My brother has 2 16" on his 71 (ls 6.0 swap) and its honestly a little quiet. Good luck with your choice but I doubt you will be unhappy with whatever you choose.

Do you have a single muffler? Any idea on how the round ones sound versus oval?

Re: Which Magnaflow muffler would you recommend?

I have had both. On my 68 6.0 truck i had a 2 14" and switched to 1 14" which sounded awesome for my taste. On my 13 Silverado I have a single 14". I don't know much about the round style magnaflow mufflers, sorry. I have only heard and used the oval style.

don't need a 3" pipe - going to 2 1/2" will help system work & sound better.

Re: Which Magnaflow muffler would you recommend?

Thanks for the advice. I actually already had the y-pipe, and I pretty much have my mind set on a single setup. I ordered a 14" Magnaflow muffler tonight, so hopefully once I get the doors back on it and rebuilt I can take her down to the muffler shop and get everything welded on.
