Difference in 69 vs 70 cab

Started redoing my 70 short Stepside a while back and afteri got the body back from blast the cab was really ate up with rust. Inner and outer rockers cab corners, a and b pillars, all around weatherstrip seal flange and front windshield gasket seal on passenger side inner and outer roof skin on passenger side, etc. any way, I started the long journey of repairing the rust and soon realized it was going to take much much more time and work than I thought and frankly had the skill for. I decided that maybe trying to find another cab might be a better option. I found a 69 model cab that is pretty solid except for rockers and a foulest of small places in the floor that will need patched. It is also the color I was planning on painting the truck anyway which is a plus. Anyway, I was wondering what the differences between the two year models are and if I would run into any major issues swapping the two......

Re: Difference in 69 vs 70 cab

Hi jb70c10 and Welcome to the forum. '69 and '70 are virtually identical with only slight differences in the inner grille and some options offered, trim packages, and paint schemes. The only real concern I'd have is if your original is an air conditioned or non-air cab and if the one you are replacing it with is air or non-air. Other than that you should be good to go.

Re: Difference in 69 vs 70 cab

Thanks 70 longbed, my old cab was originally a nomen AC cab but I added an old air kit and had to cut out vent holes. I will have to do the same with the 69 cab. I did not really think there was much if any difference but wanted some input from the experts! Thanks for the welcome.....

Re: Difference in 69 vs 70 cab

Basically the same cab. Might want to verify if the center hump is the same in both. The low hump cabs are molded as part of the floor.

Also, one thing you can do so you dont have to cut new holes in the cab is just unscrew your old dash from your old cab and put it into the new one.

Re: Difference in 69 vs 70 cab

The dash is welded at the flange for the windshield, it cannot be unscrewed you will have to cut it out. It will be easier to make new holes for the A.C. vents
