Oil pressure gauge 58 pu
I installed an early 283 in my 58 apache. I made the mistake of thinking the block would be like the mid '70s block I pulled out, so didn’t eyeball it enough before I stuck it in. Can't find where to connect my oil pressure gage. The hole above the filter looks plugged and unthreaded. Don't see it back by the distributor / atmospheric crankcase vent. Don’t see oil spewing out when I run it. I'm running the '70 intake because I don't have the early carb. Anyone have a picture to show me where to look?

Re: Oil pressure gauge 58 pu
Oil pressure on that engine and most any small block I know of is tapped into at the top of the back end of the block behind the rail that the intake sits on between the left head and the distributor.
You can see the oil pressure sending unit in this photo and that is where the oil pressure line goes. The guy who put that engine together painted the bottom part of the sending unit when he painted the engine but if you look close you can see where it goes. There should be an 1/8 pipe plug in the hole or a fitting for the oil pressure line to fit in.
