1968 cst trim question
Did the cst option include the side trim or was this a seperate option? Found a 68 cst with several options just no side trim. I haven't seen the truck in person so I can't look at the spid right now. Truck looks to be a white orginal paint truck.
Thanks, Doug

Re: 1968 cst trim question
Good question, I had always thought the trim was part of the CST option.

Re: 1968 cst trim question
According to the 1967 Chevy Sales Brochure:
"Available for all Fleetside and Stepside pickups and Chassis Cabs, Custom Sport Truck equipment literally transforms the truck's appearance and comfort to something more akin to that of a passenger car. On the cab exterior, extensive use of bright metal around grille openings, headlights and windshield add a flair to conventional truck appearance. Also, a tastefully designed emblem with CST designation is mounted on both doors just below the window sill. Inside, the transformation is more dramatic. Bucket seats are provided for both driver and right-hand passenger with a center console-type seat for the third passenger. Padded backrest may be folded down when not in use to provide an armrest. Additional CST equipment includes floor and fuel tank carpeting, chrome front bumper, bright metal frames for clutch, brake and accelerator pedals, chrome-trimmed instrument knobs and horn button, right-hand padded sunshade, underbody coating and more." If the CST option was available for Stepside trucks then body side moldings could not have been standard.

Re: 1968 cst trim question
I think what Longhorn Man is trying to say is that lower trim was standard with the CST package on Fleetside trucks. I have yet to find any documentation stating that but I have also not seen a CST Fleetside truck without lower trim. I would contact "C/10 King" to look at his SPID on his '68 Short/Fleet CST to see if the lower trim is listed separately.

Re: 1968 cst trim question
Looks like the side trim was a seperate option of the CST package.

Re: 1968 cst trim question
The spid you have pictured is for a "custom" not a "CST" the option for CST is z84, the custom comfort and appearan ce package is a seperate and different option all together. My 68 has the same option package, see attached picture. The trim if it follows with later models would have been standard only on cst everything else would have had to opt for the trim- hence the option code b98

Re: 1968 cst trim question
Here's what the 68 CST option Z84 includes: (From my 68 options sheet)
"Full foam seat with color keyed deluxe two-tone all vinyl trim, color keyed carpeting, embossed vinyl door trim panels with bright upper rretainter, RH and LH full depth armrests, parking brake rachet cover, cigar lighter. Chevrolet name plate for dispatch door, cowl insulation, full underbody sprayed mastic coating, chrome front bumper, bright metal windshield moldings, ventpanes frames rearwindow molding, control knob inserts, "CST" emblems, pedal trim, Not available when Custom Comrort and apprearance option is ordered" The B98 Option Custom Side molding is described as: "Cab models only. Also includes side and rear pickup box molding when ordered on fleetside pickups." I think the 68 CST does NOT necessary inlcude the side molding option. I'd say it's possible to have a CST without side molding. In later years, I think side molding is included with CST/Cheyenne options. Do you have any pictures of the truck in question?

Re: 1968 cst trim question
hmmmm....looking at my paperwork (same as Tom's) it isn't listed. I have yet to see one without though, and was always under the assumption...
69 - 70 Z84 optioned trucks did in fact come with the lower trim though. |
