8" Factory Reversed Steel Wheels

I purchased a pair of factory 8" reversed steel wheels on ebay. They came off a camper special and look oh so sweet! Problem is they miss fitting under the wheel wells of my '65 stepside by an inch or more. Damn! The truck is a short bed, lowered in the back with 4 inch drop coils and "lowering shocks". I would appreciate any ideas. I have considered having the wheels torn apart and adjust the offset or somehow modifying the fenders. I love the stock appearance so nothing too extreme.
