Re: Tow reciever ?

From my research only uhaul makes a hitch for our trucks. Can't remember th part number but you can search their site to find it.

Re: Tow reciever ?

Pretty sure mine is from uhaul. Call them up or look it up online. In sure there's got to be some others out there that make them for our trucks.

Re: Tow reciever ?

I'm pretty sure Early Classic has a Blazer hitch. Frame is different on the back of the Blazer from the trucks (curved, built in bumper mount) so needs a Blazer hitch. Not sure if Sub hitch will work. I had a hitch place adapt a "Universal" Class III hitch to my Jimmy in the late 80's. Would be cool to know there was another option if I ever need to replace it.

Re: Tow reciever ?

The only other hitch I have seen besides uhaul is the hidden hitch and custom.

Re: Tow reciever ?

John,
The black 71 I have sitting here has a receiver hitch on it if your interested. I have no clue if it will fit a 72 b/c of frame differences.

Richard

Re: Tow receiver ?

Thanks for the offer Richard but I have a u-haul store within walking distance so I ordered one. They don't have them in stock so they have a company make they for your application. It will be here around Feb 21.
I also looked into early classics but for the hitch they sell I would have to remove the rear spring hanger support on the bottom of frame. I didn't want to do that with the weight of my 1 ton axles. I'll post some pics when I get it mounted.

Re: Tow reciever ?

Here are a few pics of mine. I got the Uhaul hitch two years ago (took the Uhaul sticker off) for my Blazer. Installed in about and hour (by myself) and only had to drill 2 holes.

Re: Tow reciever ?

My Blazer hitch fit right my 4wd truck. Not sure what part # as I got it from a junk yard but 4wd is 4wd. Same frame on the rear. Blazer is 72 and truck is 70.
