Tried To Save This one From the Scrap

This morning at the gas station I stop at most mornings I seen this 64-66 C10 Stepside on a trailer headed for the scrap yard.

I wanted to save it but they had no real interest in doing anything but letting it go to the scrap.

Drivers door was dented but the passenger was in good shape and the bed was in good shape also. The cab appeared to be in good shape too but I didn't really get to inspect it.

Shame its fate was a half mile down the road at the scrap yard. I know someone could have used the bed and other stuff.

There was bit of a Language barrier and that may have been some of the problem.

I see things stop here often headed to the scrap but its the first time I have ever seen anything I was interested in.

Man, what a shame. Probably got nothing in scrap value for what it could have been parted out for or rebuilt. May be worth a trip to that scrap yard and see if the new owner will come off of it.

If I have time I may pass by there and see if they have it still and would be willing to come off of it.

Re: Tried To Save This one From the Scrap

Dang, I live on the same road as a big scrap yard, the things I see headed to the scrap yard just blow my mind. I collect and restore vintage snowmobiles (I'm from Maine) and I also have a 62' c10, anyhow, I see this stuff go by all the time. On a few occasions, I have chased these people down and offered them much more than they would get for scrap but not one of them ever wanted to bother with it??? Such a shame.

Re: Tried To Save This one From the Scrap

Well I was not able to get it. I went by the scrap yard but the guy I talked too didn't know anything.

I was really hoping to get it because it had an automatic steering column that I really needed. Maybe they changed their mind and took it back home. I doubt it but hope its not scrap now.

Roger That. Hated to know where it was headed. One man's junk is another man's treasure.

Hey bullet , you need to get friendly with that scrap yard and have them set them off to the side for you ... When I lived in Maine and hauled scrap i would look around and bought a lot of good stuff...
