OE speaker wire?

Just got a new to me '01 suburban. Plan on putting a new sound system in it; descent head unit w blue tooth, USB & aux jacks, speakers and sub w amp to replace OE one in cargo area. Not looking to rattle the windows of cars around us or break the bank; just clear sound w a little volume.
So are the stock speaker wires sufficient or should I run new, bigger while at it?

Stock should be fine for your needs.

Call Crutchfield and tell them what you are looking to do and they will set you up as cheap as you will find. Make sure you go with the 6.75 door speakers, it is a lot easier install. Just done my 02 Z71 about 8 mos. ago sub and all.

I've found crutchfield to be pretty expensive. Check sonicelectronix when you are looking as well.

The thing about Crutchfield is all of your harness and speaker harness, mounting accessories are free on a purchase as he is talking about + their tech support is awesome. You get what you pay for.

I get my stuff from the distributors. But I have found crutchfield to be very helpful for the DIY crowd.the couple of people I have talked to were obviously very good installers designers in a past life. Lots of good help

Also metra will be your friend for door chime modules. Power modes and dash kits and harness kits.

I had to replace all my speakers in my 05 suburban. Premium sound. I literally destroyed the paper cones.

I used ken wood component speakers with factory Bose head and amps. Wow what a difference.

I'm going with Crutchfield; bought lots from them the past few years & really like all the extra adapters & such they throw in, plus the tech support is very helpful.
Just really trying to decide now about the OE amp...leave it or just bypass completely???

The more I google & read the more my head hurts!
Decided I want to completely bypass the OE amp.
But all this mess of a bypass harness is too much...why can't I just unplug it all at this OE amp?

Then could I do this???
Wire my new head unit's wires (pwr, acc, grd & dash lights) to factory harness (& not connect the speaker to factory harness). Use the RCA connections & head units remote wire to go to a new amp (for door speakers). Then add length to OE door speaker wires to get to new amp.

This is why I like working on my '72 much better

I would keep the factory amps. Put the new stuff in. Then reevaluate about replacing factory amps

On the factory Bose premium stuff the amps are good enough that I didn't have to get new amps. I'm not saying they are good amps because they are not. They are good enough with the new speakers that it sounds way better than factory new

Don't see why not. I did that with my '99 s10. What speakers are you going with?

Looking at the Alpine SPR-60.

I like Alpine stuff. I've had quite a few head units and theirs are my favorite by far.

Please don't buy them from crutchfield though... just shy of twice the price.

If you're going to pay $200 for speakers you should get $200 worth of speaker. These are $170 from sonic and you get sound deadening free instead of an adapter plate you don't need.
