How did you smooth your firewall wire gutter?
I like the idea of a smooth firewall and I think I am going to use the Porterbuilt filler panels for the front side, but I also want to smooth the wire gutter at the top of the firewall. If you have done this, how did you do it? Post up some pics...
Here is the firewall of n2billet's latest build (SUPER SLICK!). He cut the top lip off and created a smooth 90° transition. I don't think I need to go to that extreme, so how did others do it?

Re: How did you smooth your firewall wire gutter?
Here is another great example by sgaylord, but I think I may use Porterbuilt hood hinges so I don't think this one will work, but the finished product looks AWESOME!

Re: How did you smooth your firewall wire gutter?
I dont have pics, but I went to hardware store and purchased some mild metal strips, I believe 3/4 inch wide, that fit right in between the gap of the gutter. Then just welded in and bondo filled a little. These are the strips of metal like they have in the "metal working" section or "bar stock" maybe.

No doubt, this modification really makes the firewall much nicer.

Re: How did you smooth your firewall wire gutter?
Here is how I approached this based on Sgaylord's process (actually he assisted me). You can check out more at my build thread.. I like the look of the cap at a 45deg as opposed to flat.

Re: How did you smooth your firewall wire gutter?
A couple more Buck....finished in hi-build with Porters' pass side pieces and then with his hinges..they are trimmed a little a bottom with mine being flat...I like the 45* look too but may be tricky with P.B. hinges.....jim
