1988 K30 RC dually pickup?

Was that possible in 88? I thought they quit making the pickups in 87 and continued with the cab & chassis until 91. I came across a truck on craigslist that is posted as an 88 dually pickup K30 with a dump hoist under a dually pickup bed. Then if it was a C&C they would have had to shorten the frame to fit the bed right?

Re: 1988 K30 RC dually pickup?

They still made the square 1 tons in just about any flavor you wanted in 88. Crew/bonus cab single and dual wheeled or regular cab dually both in 2wd or 4wd.

http://brochures.slosh.com/index.shtml?1988

You can look thru that (click the R/V trucks on the left to expand it).

I knew they still made the one tons but thought you couldn't get it in a regular cab pickup. I guess you learn something new everyday.

I wonder how much weight that box can take. Seems like you would want some serious reinforcement if you we're to make it a dump

Re: 1988 K30 RC dually pickup?

I personally wouldn't have put a hoist under that bed. That needs to be under a flatbed or something more sturdy and built for it. It might be okay for a load of mulch but I wouldn't put anything else in it.

I don't think you could get a regular cab with a dually bed in an "R" series. duallys were C and CC were R.

Re: 1988 K30 RC dually pickup?

Here's what you could get in '88, you could get a dually pickup in either the "C/K" or "V" series this year. Lots of info on this site about this.
1 ton pickups are model 30903, so you could get a V30903 dually this year (4x4 squarebody) C30903 (2wd dually 88-98 style) or K30903 (4x4 dually 88-98 style)

Re: 1988 K30 RC dually pickup?

I stand corrected then, I swore that brochure listed out both R and V.

The only square regular cab pickup in '88 was DRW. '89 was the last square regular cab in a cab & chassis.

Re: 1988 K30 RC dually pickup?

Here's an 89 C & C with a pickup bed and a liftgate on it. Listed as a pickup but its not. Notice the gap between bed and cab and narrow rear. I've seen this truck up close, its nice. Municipality conversion.

Re: 1988 K30 RC dually pickup?

I met a guy that worked for LACMTA equipment engineering that had a real nice 1990 R/V dually.
No gap between the cab and bed. Not sure if it started life as a C&C but it was a real nice truck.
