71 Chevy Seat Suggestions

Hello,
I have a 1971 short bed Chevy C10 that is ready for interior work. I want to do a bench seat and installation of shoulder belts is a possibility for this old truck. Any suggestions on some after market seats? I will also be relocating the interior gas. Any suggestions for this move would be also greatly appreciated. I am new to the forum. I will get some pics of old blue up when we get started working on it.
Ready for some summer weather to get started working on this project here in Waco, TX.

I am eager for these answers too.

I want (for now) to keep my in cab firebomb/gas tank but put in a bench seat WITH head rests. I don't like leather but shoulder harnesses would be nice.

Re: 71 Chevy Seat Suggestions

Mid 90's early 2000 had a really nice bench in some of the single cab trucks.
That would be a good start.
I used a relocate kit from brotherstrucks.com
You do have to do some shaving on a support bracket under the bed. But it's pretty easy.
Here is a link, https://www.brotherstrucks.com/prodi...number=GTPDS72
I am a little jealous i forked out $300 and it's one sale now for 189$

That's a great kit.
Are you running carb or efi or ls?

You can also consider what I did. I wanted buckets but still wanted a third seat. 2011 2500 seats two buckets and center console (jump seat). They for quite nicely and have the options to bolt the seat belt to seat which is nice.

Like the 2011 seats! What did you have to do to the floor to mount them? Photos?

Re: 71 Chevy Seat Suggestions

I just had to drilled a few holes. I used the stock mounts that came one the seats. I had a new carpet kit so I used a hole punch to make a whole in the carpet. Then I used some some brass grommets to keep the loop carpet from fraying.

I used a stitching all to cut openings in the carpet to hide the front legs on the jump seat here's a close up.

Pretty decent cover up using a stitch lock method and some black canvas.

Sorry for all the posts I'm using my phone and they will only let me post one photo at a time. Need to find an app that will make this work a little better. These big tabs are what are covered

Looks clean! How is the height with the 09 brackets? Does it give you a little more room between the steering wheel?

I'm sticking with the carb in this truck since it still has the original engine.

Re: 71 Chevy Seat Suggestions

I plan on putting mine behind the drivers rear tail light. Right now I have it temp mounted in the wheel well behind the drivers rear tire.

Here is a thread that explains the filler tail light.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=222461

Really nice idea!

There are other ideas I've seen for the side marker too.
You can cut a whole in the bed and use a standard door or create one.
But that thread is probably the coolest one. Similar to the old tri fives tail light filler back on my grandfathers 55 bel air.

Re: 71 Chevy Seat Suggestions

Ok measurements on the seat. 57" wide from passenger seat to drivers. Buckets are 13" tall a comfy rake with the seat all the way back would give you about 13" of clearance from the cluster to the seat edge. The center console (jump seat) runs 10" tall with 11" of clearance to the a/c panel.

I've been looking for a set of these in my price range. Thank you for posting pics, now I know what it will look like. I have also thought about using the seats from a dodge, but I would rather not have them stick too far above the rear glass.

I want a center console, but my dogs would enjoy having a bench.

I was pleased with fit on mine. It set me back a little at a local recycler. 350 for the two buckets and 300 for the center console. No rips or tears. No wear. I did remove these rail covers. I liked them better without. Only sits a few inches above the window. I may cut them down one day. Still have the head rests but don't like them in the truck.
