Re: Square rat rod?

As early metal gets rarer due to rat rods, and other uses people will move up the model year range to get a project.

Personally I love the squares for its simple rugged look, and they still look modern when fixed up.

Re: Square rat rod?

Doesn't work for me.
Rat rods need rounded corners with the cab narrower in front than back, IMHO.
I guess I understand the idea, but most of 'em look like rolling salvage yards.

Not to be a suck up or anything but honestly i like its originality. Yeah maybe a chop top doesnt suit most but the rat rod look? Ive always been a fan of the theme.

Re: Square rat rod?

I think ratrods are kool...if its a 30s 40s or 50s car its fine...like a 51 mercury i seen on tv a few weeks ago...that was one of the koolest ones ive seen yet. However for our trucks it simply doesnt look good imho. But at least its different so ill give it that.

Re: Square rat rod?

I like rat rods for one reason. The kids building them are wrenching...a rare thing these days. American steel being altered by the younger generation is a good thing! I don't care for the Prius....regardless of voltage.

Re: Square rat rod?

A square body is far too new to be considered a "rat rod". ----- before long, i guess i can just paint my old rusty s15 flat black and call it a rat rod too.

Its an excuse for not doing bodywork IMO----- Interestingly enough though , i have seen some very cool C10's painted in flat and matte colors that looked great, butw the bodywork was solid enough they could have been painted in a conventional manner for not much effort

Re: Square rat rod?

Rat rod on these trucks are for the same reason as on the original rides, young guys with no money doing what they can themselves. Not my taste but neither are 2wd. Trucks should be 4x4 and big imop, but I can appreciate what someone else's vision is. Lots of strokes for all us folks ya know.
