Re: Got another Truck, What should I do with it?
I don't think bags and billets are in the budget for this one. I think it is going to stay a "work" truck for bit. Once it has to have tires, then I might do something then.
I tried to get it inspected this week and was a no go. In Texas, any thing newer than '84 has to have cats on it. The PO had taken them out and put in a true dual exhaust with glasspacks and no cats. I has been inspected in the past that way, but where I went it was a no sir...I ll find someone to get it to pass for now...

Re: Got another Truck, What should I do with it?
There are options out there to pass a catalytic converter visual inspection. Cheap too at 50 dollars. This is a 3 incher under my big block dually. All it has to do is look like a converter. They don't test emissions on ones this old.
A google search for "fake catalytic converter" will fix you right up. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Got another Truck, What should I do with it?
Great find, love the color combo. Should make a great tow rig.
I do have a question, Doesn't everyone use ATF in the power steering? I thought that is what was recommended by GM. Thanks Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Got another Truck, What should I do with it?
Thanks guys for checking in and the suggestion on the cats...
I have not done anything with this one in a while. Been working everyday on Korbin's truck. Once it is on the road, I will put some love into this one. As far as using ATF in the power steering, I know that is what is in Bubba. I do not think it was recommended by GM, but the PO used it and its what I use to fill it up till I get the leak fixed...

Re: Got another Truck, What should I do with it?
Little but of an update on bubba. Because I get my license this Friday, and my build isn't anywhere closed to finished, I will drive bubba until my truck is done. I've been tinkering with him in my spare time. I made a center console in woodshop that is molded to the seat, but its not quite finished yet. I bought some floor mats after vacuuming it out and deciding it was still very dirty.
It's insanely hot in Texas as you can imagine, and the ac doesn't work. Usually one would say, just open the vent window then, well one is stuck and won't open, and the other doesn't even have the little pivot point. So, then you move onto, just open the windows right? Well those don't work either. So I spent some time today and took the blower motor out and cleaned it really good, cleaned the electrical connections, and put it back in, good as new! The PO took all the tubing connecting the unit to the vents out, so for now it just blows a lot of air from under the dash, Better than nothing right? Plan on trying to piece all of t together later. Then checking to make sure the condenser clutch comes on. Keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe some pics later! Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Got another Truck, What should I do with it?
Well, Bubba is going to be Korbin's driver for a short time while we finish up his truck. Korbin get his license today and he is excited and a bit nervous. He wants to do well on his test, he will do fine he just needs to stay calm.
Bubba needs some manifold gaskets and a high beam indicator bulb to pass inspection. We will work on that this weekend and have it ready to use next week.

Re: Got another Truck, What should I do with it?
The written test isn't terribly hard as I recall, but I did 'hometaught course'
been driving since I was fifteen, so i just kinda filled out the completion sheet and she signed it, and I never had to take a driving test. easiest way, let us know how he does!

Re: Got another Truck, What should I do with it?
Well I did a bit a work on him this past weekend. Put on new cap, rotor, wires and plugs. Runs a ton better. Still need to fix the exhaust leak and fix the power windows or replace them with manuals. Most likely i will replace the motors for the power...

Re: Got another Truck, What should I do with it?
Well I was able to sell this one this weekend. I got a call from a lady who's husband is deployed overseas. He had seen it on CL and had here call about it. He called me the next day and really wanted it for when he gets back home. She came up and looked at it and paid me a deposit. Since she was doing this alone and he is overseas, I did not feel good having her deal with getting it back to Killeen, TX where they live. Since he is deployed and is scheduled to return in May, I offered to deliver it to their house. SInce Killeen is somewhat on my way to may parents place, I will make a weekend trip to see them and my 95 year old grandmother since I have not seen her lately.
So it looks like a road trip to Fredericksburg via Killeen is coming up!
