Just curious as to why you're switching from a Q-Jet to a 1406. That's really like a downgrade, not an upgrade. I'm not trying to badmouth the 1406, it's a good carb, but the Q-Jet flows better and has way better secondaries.
Sorry, I don't mean to offend, but I'm a diehard Q-Jetter and it just bums me to see people toss them out for newer carbs |

me too. i got nothing against newer carbs but i have always had good luck with the q-jet. Plus mine is modified. I drilled out some passages, moved the secondary squirter hole(huh? ) lower, etc. Found a cool book one time in a half price book store, has all kinds of info in it. I most likely will get a newer carb one day. In fact i am getting a 74 camaro from my brother and it has an Edlebrock carb on it so i will probably retire the old q-jet. have to wait and see though. |

it should be gravy to install,i had installed on on my blazer took about 20 min's.as for quadrajunks yes they can be a good carb,if you like messing with your carb alot.or know how to tune them correctly.i had one rebuilt it ran good for about 3 months.thats when i switched to an edelbrock.i wont run anything else.also im not to sure on the electric choke on the 1406.i run 1405 manual chokes

I took an Edelbrock 1405 OFF of my Performer intake and installed a new Edelbrock 1901 Q-Jet. Piece of cake. I added the divorced choke linkage and improved my driveablity, gas mileage and performance.
Difference between a 1405 and a 1406? Bigger jetting and no choke on the 1405.
