Burnt Wiring Harness
Its burnt up on me twice now. Its the engine wiring harness? From the firewall, to the alternator and the lights, horn, relay, and regulator. Once driving the way home , lights started going out and burnt up my relay and regulator and lights as well. I tried to make it home while I still had some light , but she died on me. Patched it up real good....Haha. I had driven it a while before that, but I recently also added an MSD ignition. I was wondering if I'm getting too much power? Do I need an inline fuse? Or is it just bad wiring? I'm going to check out another harness tomorrow, hopefully it's just bad wiring, also looking into a whole new harness. Thanks for any input!! Oh, I can post some pictures as well..!

Re: Burnt Wiring Harness
All I can say is American auto wire. I rewired my 65 with it and the more I pulled out of the old stuff the more I was glad I did. I also got a 66 a couple of months ago and just got a new harness for it. I use the classic update harness and it is very nice. Problem with the old truck is they were wired for very low loads and stuff like high power ignitions and good head lights just over load it in a hurry.

Re: Burnt Wiring Harness
Replace it all! I chased electric burn-ups for 2 years on a '63 C10 once. I replaced all the wiring with new harnesses and never had a problem again. That wiring is old and in need of replacing.
