2 questions about setting up new edelbrock carb
Ok i have installed the new 600cfm carb and noticed that on startup it seems to run a little rough
I have the distributor vacum advance on the timed vacum inlet should it be on the constant inlet? And the other is in reference to the positive wire for the choke where is the best location to connect this I made the mistake of connecting it to the radio wire feed then realized it is not powered while the engine is starting any help will be great |

I should have mentioned its on a 1986 350 v8 in my 82 stepside any help is good

be sure to use a pressure regulater,edelbrocks don't like anything over 4.5 lbs.i found out the hard way,they will flood out.

What model # carb? What intake is it on?
If that truck originally came with a carb, it probably has a choke power wire unless a PO removed it. If you have one of the square bore carbs on a spread bore intake, you may need an adapter plate to properly seal off vacuum leaks. I have one of the #1400 series on mine( manual choke), with a stock mechanical fuel pump and have never needed a regulator. If you have a tank mounted pump, you may well need a regulator. For best low and mid-range throttle, the full manifold port for the vacuum advance works best for mine. If your state has emissions testing, probably want to go with timed for the testing. At present, OK has no inspections or testing. If the roughness is only on initial cold start, I would look at your choke adjustment. |
