Born in East LA- 57 Chevy 3100
Well here it is. My "born in East LA" 1957 Chevy SWB 3100. In 2009 I purchased it, from a guy in east la for 1500 bucks. The picture is how it sat the day i bought it. It was all complete with very little rust, he even had a grille (now wall art in my garage). Then asked my dad to go in halfsies! 1957, factory v8, built in Los Angeles, small window, the motor in it when i bought it as a 283 from a 58 (unfortunately not orig). Plan is to drop in a 350, tci mustang II front end, drop leaf in the back. Paid the cash, took the title and I was off (apparently I forgot I know nothing about mechanics, body, etc.) about all I know is how to change oil!
3 years later I met a guy who let me keep the truck at his shop. His body man has been working on it in his spare time since 09/12. So far quite a bit has been done and a whole lot of new parts! Ill try to catch you guys up in the next few weeks. Most of the bodys done, blasted, frame off, mII cross member is on. |

Here is the begining of the teardown, most of my pics are still on the camera. Original color shows through, red and white, door plate confirms. The brown was probably done in the 70's. I am crazy about orange myself, so it will be orange!

Some pictures of the deconstruction... oddly enough the truck was shipped back to East LA for the work at my friends shop.

The original two tone coming out (red and white), matches the door plate
