Rag joint vs direct universal joint style steering shaft

My question is about converting from the typical rag joint intermediate steering shaft to a universal joint that attaches from steering gear box to the DOUBLE D shaft that's already in place. Is this a very common upgrade or will the vibration be to much for a semi solid steering shaft set up? The truck that's getting this done will not be driven much as a daily driver. More along the weekend fun run around town . I really appreciate any input on subject.
