Ebay find....and it has something I've never seen before.

This is a 1964 C20 with a 250 6 cylinder(seller says its a 292, but its not) and it has an integrated head!!!! First I have ever seen..this means the head intake and exhaust are all one...browse through the pictures and see..perrty neat..Note that this isn't the original engine. Its been pulled..one the color is wrong and 2 cause in these years they didn't come with the integrated head. Its a neat truck to. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Ot...US_Cars_Trucks

Definitely a newer engine and not a 292 as you have indicated. I never had one of those newer integrated head engines, but have heard that they are not as good as the older ones.

Off subject, but a pet-peeve of mine; if it runs like a sewing machine, why didn't you pull it out from under that carport to take some decent pics?

Yep, The integrated head was a terrible idea..prone for cracking and many other issues.

The 292 from 62-88 had 6 inch sidecovers, and the fuel pump was in the center of the block. The 292's stroke is 4.120 much taller then the stroke of the 250 being 3.530. The 292's long stroke gave it a connecting rod length of 6.760 inches..the 250's connecting rod length is 5.700 inches..the 230-250-292 all share the same bore and have different strokes. The 194-230-250 have 4 inch sidecover(hence the picture) and the 292 has 6 inch sidecovers.

Re: Ebay find....and it has something I've never seen before.

They made two versions of the integrated head 250 engines. The Two bbl dual exhaust version was prone to the head cracking. The one bbl single exhaust version was pretty good and gets great fuel economy. the engine has deep dished pistons and handles corn gas better than a regular version. I have one in my junk yard dog 4wheel drive. and used that same engine for several years in a 64 3/4 that was used as a wrecker. you can swap an integrated head on to a regular engine and vice versa.

Here is a picture of a 292's sidecovers. They are 2 inches taller then a 194-230-250.
