What are these holes for?
Does anyone know what this threaded hole is in the inside upper cab on both sides is for? Only thing I can think of is 3 point seat belt mount but the truck came with lap belts. Also what are the small holes inside the cab running along the bottom of the rear window for? Not sure if there stock or not. Thanks for your help.

Re: What are these holes for?
yeah, seatbelt 1st pic. There should be a plug in it. Don't know the 2nd pic, shouldn't be any holes there on the inside.

Re: What are these holes for?
3 point belts were optional. Most people did not get them. There was a plastic plug in there from the factory. Make good use of it! The rest look like good ole redneckery to me.

See post #4. I've never seen shoulder belts.

Re: What are these holes for?
Lower holes... gun rack?
Upper holes- shoulder belts. In our family's '68 Pontiac, they were in essence a seat belt that hung from the top. They had a separate buckle from the lap belt. They were stowed by being folded and running along the headliner side held up by a couple of wire clips. Pretty clumsy, and not 3-point- you had to tighten the buckle just like old seatbelts. We never used them much back then. Front seat placement for the outboard occupants was standard- dictated from 1/1/68 by the Feds in passenger cars. Trucks got them mandated much later. FWIW, GM started installing shoulder belt mounting points in passenger cars early in the 1966 model year. This was the first year for the belts- as an option in cars. I expect they were designed in the 1967 model year trucks in expectation of the regulations and to get some good safety PR about offering shoulder belts up and down the line. Eventually I want a set and a center lap belt as well.

Re: What are these holes for?
If your truck came with factory buckets, I'd say the small holes under the window would be for attaching the carpet tank cover EXCEPT the factory holes in my 69 are about 3"-4" lower. Based on your avatar, it appears your truck may be a 67 which could have had buddy buckets. I don't know if they used the carpet over the tank and if they did, how it was positioned under the window. The first picture below shows the holes in mine (the center 2 holes have screws in them). The second picture shows the carpet installed as well as factory shoulder belts.

Re: What are these holes for?
If the truck had buddy buckets in 67 it usually had carpet covering the rear tank behind the seat... And a Velcro strap to hold the seat back up.
I hope that helped. Looks like Firstowner69 and I typed at the same time. Mike |

Re: What are these holes for?
Do you know if the carpeting was located at the same level as my 69?

Re: What are these holes for?
Cool thing about these trucks, there's lot of tiny differences between them all. Never really thought about it from a buddy bucket installed perspective, I've only owned a bench. Seeings how the tank is more exposed, I can understand the need for carpet there, and never noticed otherwise until now. Most probably relocate the tank nowadays.
Questing now is, what year and does the op's truck have bb seats or ever did?

Re: What are these holes for?
My truck is a 68 and came with a bench seat. The holes wrap around the radius. There maybe 3/16". Looks like I might be filling them in.

Here are a couple better pics of carpet and belts. The 4 pieces between the belt sets are spares. |

Re: What are these holes for?
If you're saying the holes go around the window I'm thinking there was a boot or cover installed using snaps at one point for a window that was removed for pass-through when camper/topper where installed

Re: What are these holes for?
They seemed to like gun racks back in the day, the big one on each side is option for seatbelt harness
