1979 Silverado blinker/wiper switch issue
Hello guys, I have a issue with my blinker and wiper switch. My truck has the wiper switch in the dash. http://imgur.com/wWPTDkd It also has a wiper function on the blinker in the steering column. http://imgur.com/FnY0xUb It would be number 3 part in diagram which is attached to this part inside the column http://imgur.com/cS4vgxH. The blinker switch looks like this http://imgur.com/4oIX1aq. Ok thats the parts in the truck right now. I went to tear the steering colum down and found: The part connected to part 3 stated above was not plugged into anything. The blinker switch plug at the base of the steering column has 10 connecters(male end) but the(female end) coming from truck wiring harness has 8 connectors which leaves out the green and tan wires seen in picture above. Ok, all I would like to do is have only blinkers on the column and leave the windshield washers in the dash. I have ordered these parts: http://imgur.com/lFtyQE4 & http://imgur.com/lLbFxEa part #1 and it comes minus the green and tan wires. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you have an 83-87 column in your truck. That is when they went in the column.

Re: 1979 Silverado blinker/wiper switch issue
Yeah I think so too. Can I make the blinker and lever from a 79 model work in this steering column? The 79 switch is exactly like the one I pulled out except for two wires(green/tan) which I believe run the wiper/washer. The 79 lever and the one I took out are completly different, this is the part that concerns me.

As long as the multi function (colum mounted) switch isn't a delay you can probably splice it to the dash switch wires. If the multi function switch is for delay then your also going to need a delay module.

Re: 1979 Silverado blinker/wiper switch issue
Willet are you referring to the wiper delay? The column mounted blinker/wiper/washer was not plugged to anything when I dismantled it. The dash wiper switch is the only thing that would operate the wipers. With this being said do you think I can make it work with what I have? Thanks for you guys help.
