Th350 shifting early
The turbo 350 in my 70 is shifting way to early. It makes the 1-2 shift around 3,300 rpm and the 2-3 shift happens 3,900 and I was just wondering what ya'll thought it would be? Thanks in advance!!

Re: Th350 shifting early
Is the detent/kickdown cable hooked up?
I don't remember if the modulator was for shift points, or shift firmness, but some are adjustable. I thought the detent was for high rpm shift points, and the modulator controlled the low shift points/firmness in drive

Re: Th350 shifting early
I bought the truck back about a year ago and it was doing it then. The kick cable is hooked up and working. The teams isn't slipping so I wouldn't think it was clutches. I can shift it manually and it will stay in that gear until I up shift..

Re: Th350 shifting early
x2 for the modulator. I'd check/replace it to start with.

Re: Th350 shifting early
Where the vacuum line goes in, there should be a screw head in the port. it's adjustable, so try some trial and error

Re: Th350 shifting early
I would try adjusting the kick down cable. It is simple, free, and does change when it shifts.
