looking at the block just in back of the intake manifold on the drivers side is where that oil line will screw into the block

Good pic, that's it. If I were you I'd go to NAPA and get a replacement line for the V8. The I6 line is too long and may break or get kinked in your effort to route it.

Remove the pressure sending unit thing there behind the dist and put your line fitting in its place.
Beat me to it

this is the one that threads into your gauge in the dash bezel right?

It's been a while since I had that trucck with the replacement line, but I believe it ran directly from the block to the sending unit on the dash. The stock configuration used 2 separate steel lines coupled together outside the firewall. The stock line that attached to the block was coiled like a slinky to help with the vibration cracking problem, the other stock line it was coupled too was straight thru the firewall to the pressure gauge.

you could also probably get one free or dirt cheap from a V8 truck at a junkyard...

Go to the NAPA counter and ask the partsman for a 1/8" breakaway ferrule and some 1/8" copper tubing. Thought I would share a pic with you. This is my oil pressure line on top with the vacuum gauge line on the bottom. I used 4-AN line and bulkhead fittings.

Gonebad, I'd like to see more pictures of your truck please.
Not just the braided hoses, the whole engine and everything.
