I will be going, I am hoping the truck is done by then, My goal was to get it done by the street rod nationals in August up in Louisville, so we'll see.

Great build thread, the white letters on the tailgate really pop.
What did you have in mind for the seat? I was thinking black vinyl bench with the white/black houndstooth inserts...but that's just me talkin' lol. Be sure to post pictures when you get that tailgate bolted up, awesome progress.

Re: 1971 Chevy C10 SWB - Elizabethtown, Ky
Havn't had much time to work on the truck due to some remodeling in the house. I have continued on with the wiring and finally got the tailgate in and adjusted the way I want it. Had a time with the handle fitting in properly. I fitted it before painting then, afterwards it wouldn't fit. I guess I didn't calculate paint thickness, so painted it again after some grinding. It's ashamed a new tailgate and handle would work together properlly. But if that's all that went wrong with an entinre new aftermarket bed, I guess I shouldn't complain.

You are making some really good progress on your truck. Bummer about the tailgate hardware.

Re: 1971 Chevy C10 SWB - Elizabethtown, Ky
Thanks, I guess it's like all other aftermarket stuff, you buy it and hold your breath that it fits. Like I said, I guess out of purchasing an entire new bed, I was lucky that's all I had trouble with.

Re: 1971 Chevy C10 SWB - Elizabethtown, Ky
Another square shot of the back end. Very pleased. Hoping to get the bumper bought and put on this week. Got the passenger door painted and hung, somewhat adjusted for now until the fender gets put on. Got the door latch sandblasted greased and out on also. I took the air cleaner off, it was a caddy/olds repop. Every show I have been too, everyone is just putting them on and not doing anything to it. Pictures soon to come, but I am painting it up to match the truck, so we'll see.

Finally found a lower radiator hose that fit, thanks to some suggestions by a fellow member. Continuing on with the wiring. Got the breather, cowl panel and steering wheel in primer.

All the wiring under the hood, well not really, the hood isn't on yet, but you get the idea. Hopefully, well start it this week.

Re: 1971 Chevy C10 SWB - Elizabethtown, Ky
Went with the caddy breather, everyone I have ever seen hasn't had much appeal, so I wanted to make it up a little and have it match the truck.

Thanks, got the air cleaner finished, think i will get it sand and buffed. Also a bit early, but got the hood hinges painted and put back for when they are needed.

Thanks, I sandblasted them and picked up some paint from Advanced, it's called "cast iron" obviously the springs are gloss black.

Re: 1971 Chevy C10 SWB - Elizabethtown, Ky
Lots done, windshield is in, rear bumper on and wired up the plate light. Also starting to get the steering column together, having trouble finding all the correct pieces for my itermediate shaft, my stock one was trashed. Also added the small splash shields on top of the bumper brackets. I think they availble only on high end models.
