To Seal Or Not To Seal

I installed my windshield and the question is should I run a bead of sealer under the outside rubber or not to prevent a leak. If the answer is yes, whaat should I use? How about the back window?

Re: To Seal Or Not To Seal

while my truk is a 58, there was no sealer in the windshield or back window and i did not add any except in one corner where i thought it might leak. have had no leakage around the windshield at all.

Re: To Seal Or Not To Seal

Thanks. I guess the thing to do is try it without sealer first and go from there.

After I had new rubber installed over the winter, I am going to wait-and-see.

Let's check in later, after a good rainy drive.

Re: To Seal Or Not To Seal

I did not use any sealant on my front windshield at first, but found it did leak at the bottom corners when it rained real hard. I got a tube of clear silicone at Home Depot. I simply pushed the nose of the tube down in between the rubber and the glass (and then between the rubber and the cab) while squeezing out the silicone. Very fast and easy. I did not need to seal the back window.

Re: To Seal Or Not To Seal

Or you could take it to the local windshield glass shop and talk then into sealing it for you using their nifty tool and sealer.
