Is there a protocol for sharing about a truck I found for sale?

Met an older Gentleman at the parts store that is selling a 71 C10 LWB 2WD his father bought new. Followed him to his house to see it and told him I would share with others. Is there a protocol I should follow for doing this?

Thanks

Re: Is there a protocol for sharing about a truck I found for sale?

I've seen trucks in the For Sale section that belonged to a relative or friend or computer illiterate person and the poster/board member stated in the ad it wasn't his/her truck and was just posting for the friend relative etc. and put contact info in the ad so you could deal with the owner directly. As long as things are on the up and up I don't think the moderators mind if you post for someone else. The problem for you doing that at this point is that you are not a paying board member and you have to be able to post in the For Sale section.

if you dont have a monetary stake in the sale then just post up his craigslist ad. nothing wrong with that.

Re: Is there a protocol for sharing about a truck I found for sale?

He has not listed it anywhere yet and I should become a paying member anyway
so I'll go that route and post it for him. I wont make anything off it but would like to see it go to a member

Thanks

yep - if you're just sharing (i.e. it's not yours and you won't profit from the sale), posting the info and/or a CL ad is perfectly acceptable. Remember, a pic is worth a thousand words, so the more pics, the better..

In the "Available Subscriptions" section I see a lot about selling parts but did not see anything about selling whole vehicles.
Need a Premium membership and I'm good?

The very first thing to do whenever you find a killer deal is to TELL ME. Once I have passed it over you may take other steps.

With all the advice I received on here last summer, I joined as a paying member by the fall.

If it was a SWB you never would have heard about being for sale

Need a Premium membership and I'm good? Right?

Yep it's all good, no different than sharing a CL ad that you found.

You can post a link to a craigslist or other posted ad but you can not post an actual for sale ad in the classifieds unless you own the parts or vehicle. In other words you can't sell parts or vehicles unless you actually own them and have them in your possession....

Sellers Code of Conduct 67-72chevytrucks.com

VI .Do not offer any item up for sale or trade that is not in your possession, you do not have the right to sell, or does not exist at the time of the classified ad.

Re: Is there a protocol for sharing about a truck I found for sale?

Over the years I've seen for sale ads for vehicles that didn't belong to the board member and the board member stated that in the ad and gave the actual owners contact info. Did those ads fall through the cracks?

The protocol is very simple. Buy it if you can.

I'm sure there have been a few that have slipped between the cracks The article I quoted was added to the Code Of Conduct on 6/17/06. I know there have been some deals go south because of lack of communication between the board member, owner, and buyer...

Re: Is there a protocol for sharing about a truck I found for sale?

Talked to the owner again and he asked me not to put his contact info up on here as he doesn't have the time to deal with it. He has a friend that's going to tinker on it first and list it on CL. But hey, I'm a paying member now anyway which is good

Re: Is there a protocol for sharing about a truck I found for sale?

I'd think that anyone who was really interested in it would have contacted you by now and got the info or relayed their info. You can always drop their contact info off with him and let him do as he wants with it.
