292 split manifold?

Anybody ever do this before, my grandad talks about split manifolds all the time but I've never heard one, do they sound decent. Is it worth the time and money, and how do you do it also, cast iron rods and a stick welder or what

Re: 292 split manifold?

It's how they made dual pipes for a six banger. Cut the manifold between 3 and 4, capped the ends and installed another exhaust flange. Used an oxy/acetelene gas ax and a brazing rod. Easier to do on the older six bangers like the 216 and 235. Then while they where at it they brazed one or two more flanges on the intake so it would be full race.
Twin pots (or three) and twin pipes.
Old skool hotroddin' at it's finest.
Not practical today. Cheaper to buy some headers like Fenton or Langdon's.

Re: 292 split manifold?

I was looking at going this route, but I'll end up going with Langdon's headers.
