Hi,
I recently bought a '69 Camaro gas tank to move the tank out of my cabin in my 1972 GMC but it ended up sitting to low to my liking. Now I am looking to sell the tanks so I can get another tank that will fit better between the frame.

Dimensions are: 39 3/8" x 20 7/8" x 7 3/4"

Re: 69 Camaro Fuel Tank Kit (2)

Good evening. A quick question, are the mounting straps for our trucks or just the ones that came with the kit? Maybe a package deal for a tank and all the other stuff? Thank you!

Re: 69 Camaro Fuel Tank Kit (2)

The mounting straps are the ones that came with the kit. They can work but I did not try to use them at all.

What items are you looking to get? I can work out some sort of deal just let me know what stuff you would want to package up together. Thanks.

I live in cedar park just north of Austin. I can let it go for $140 if yuk pick it up. I could meet you somewhere north of me if you want to drive down.

Re: 69 Camaro Fuel Tank Kit (2)

Sorry it would be $130. Had the incorrect shipping price when I figured out the math.

Re: 69 Camaro Fuel Tank Kit (2)

Utee50, I appreciate the reply. I am going to pass on the tank, it is a great deal! I measured the rear of my truck and, like yours, it will sit too low for my liking.

Re: 69 Camaro Fuel Tank Kit (2)

Mine sat a bit lower than expected because of my leaf springs. If my truck was a short bed it would have been fine. I think this tanks hangs less than the burb tank.

Re: 69 Camaro Fuel Tank Kit (2)

You say it sits too low because of the leaf springs, would this work with a coil spring setup? And not sit too low?

Re: 69 Camaro Fuel Tank Kit (2)

Yes I believe so. I will take a pic tonight to show where it would the culprit of my install was. I had to add a 2" spacer to get it to sit better underneath the frame. The tank is only 7.75" tall so it is shorter than a burb tank. The reason I had to do that is due to the width as it extends outside the frame.

You really cannot see it from behind. The reason I decided to not go with this this setup is cause you can set it quite a bit from the side. But again this was due to my longbed with leaf and coil springs. It was hitting the hinges.

I will be post a pic to show what my setup in my truck.

On the 2nd pic is the hinge (I think that is what it is called) that is just on the outside of the frame that is causing me to use a spacer so the tank can attach properly.

@72peace: From your pics it looks like you would not have any issues.

Re: 69 Camaro Fuel Tank Kit (2)

If you are looking at the brand new in box it is $185 shipped. If you are looking at the open box one that is $165 shipped. If you are looking to take the anti-squeak kit and the straps I can work out a deal for everything.

Yes it will fit in a long bed. My reason for selling is I ended up getting another fuel cell and felt that this one sat a bit low on mine due to my leaf spring hinges. It may not be too low for some but I felt it was a bit lower. However from reading threads about the burb tank I think that tank sits lower than this one even with the spacers I had to use.
