Wife's 66 Panel
After going to a car show my wife got tinkeritus and wants to get her grandpa's 66 panel on the road and fixed up.
Here are some pictures I snapped with my phone as it sits. It has been sitting for 22 years over at her parents place. Needless to say...SHE has got a project LOL ( yes I will help her) Gotta clean out all the trash and rats nests and get it over to my place to start tear down. Anyway...here is the start of a long journey.... Indy. |

Re: Wife's 66 Panel
Looks like a good start to me. I miss the 3 on the tree in my old 61 Brookwood wagon. It's a pretty good theft deterrent these days... nobody knows how to drive one!

Re: Wife's 66 Panel
Great start! Is that a 250? 4 inch side covers will say so.

Re: Wife's 66 Panel
Welcome to the forum
Looks like a fairly decent panel to start with. Do you have a plan of any sort yet?

Re: Wife's 66 Panel
Pull it out of there and clean it up. A little gas, plugs, coil clean the points and I bet it will run! Good luck!

Re: Wife's 66 Panel
The data tag on the inside of the glovebox had a paint code of 505AA
tracking that code down the original paint was dark green. The color under that ugly brown ( door jambs..firewall..etc..) is light blue or turquoise, and the interior color is saddle. i am confused because the dark green trucks had green interior from what I can tell researching on the ol internet. So the data tag on the glove box is wrong on the paint code...or someone did a color and interior change along the way. Her grandpa bought it in the mid 70's and it was already brown when he got it. I guess it dont really matter, the wife is playing with color combos to make it two tone. |

Re: Wife's 66 Panel
Any ideas on how I can get the Earl Schieb " I'll paint any car for $99.95" 1970's turd brown paint off this thing without messing up the original blue/white two tone underneath it to much?

Re: Wife's 66 Panel
Thanks Bomp, Yea I like the patina also...not going to change it. It even has the old double bubble side window truck topper on it. LOL
My plan was to get these 2 trucks to my place this weekend, but it started raining pretty good the last few days. I might have to wait till it drys out again. Edit: I am wanting to tear into these trucks something fierce!..oh so bad.....yes sir! Be much more fun than my current project...a 87 ford ranger 4x4 in the middle of a engine swap. Maybe I should post a pic of the 66 International short stepper pickup sitting there also. ( another truck my FIL gave me) That thing has perfect patina!

Re: Wife's 66 Panel
here is the 66 international.
this thing would be sweet bagged laying frame. use a 350/700r4 combo under it. wonder if it could just put the body on a chevy frame?..hummm......

Re: Wife's 66 Panel
Those will be some awesome projects... I wonder how long it would take a vehicle to completely sink in the ground.
