First Road Trip
Took the truck on our first road trip!!! Camping at The Gathering of Blacksmiths. Ran great, 12mpg, even used it to haul a load of anvils and forges from another shop to the campground. Received a lot of thumbs ups and accolades even though the 4.56 gear kept me in the slow lane on the interstate.

Re: First Road Trip
If you're getting 12 MPG high way with a 4.56 rear, I wouldnt touch a thing! I averaged around 10 MPG with a mild 350 and 3.42 gears... although I didnt exactly keep my foot out of it
Sounds like you had a great time. Nice truck If thats the one ton in your avatar, I wouldnt scoff at it.

Re: First Road Trip
Great truck!
I had one nearly identical to it years ago and while it was geared low and didn't get good mileage, I towed a car from Ca to Maryland with it and then towed another car from MD to Arizona. Never skipped a beat and pulled those cars like there was nothing attached. I wish I could find another '67 3/4 ton GMC in decent shape.

Re: First Road Trip
Yea I was surprised at the mileage. I used the advise of one of the members here and used a vaccum gauge to set the timing and the fuel mixture on the carb. Been running like a swiss watch ever since.

Re: First Road Trip
Seriously, who gives a rip about the mileage when you can own and a great little GMC like that!

Re: First Road Trip
My 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 gets 12-14 mpg and it's fuel injected so I wouldn't sweat it to much.

Re: First Road Trip
Nice to see you enjoy that 2500 as the good old truck it is...with a whole lot of style built-in. 3/4ts look good with just a set of bigger wheels and tires. Did you all make a mess?
