55-59 ride height?
I have recently started working on a 57 truck. Camaro clip, bagged. What is a good ride height for ground clearance, measured at the rockers?

Maybe pictures will help.
 Camaro sub, 2" drop spindles, 295/45/18 rear, 235/45/18 front. As the front gets lower, the track width gets wider due to the A-arm angles. How do you decide if the A-Arms are the correct angle at ride height? Right now the clip is only tack welded. Truck frame is sitting on top of camaro sub. Trying to decide whether to go for it and weld it up, or drop the clip a little lower and more level with the truck frame. Moving the clip lower will give me a better A-arm angle and more clearance for the 5.3l LS.6.5" at front of rocker, 9" at rear of cab  5.5" at front of rocker, 8" at rear of cab  How's the wheel look in the fender opening?

I bought it with the clip already tacked in. I don't know how much it was moved forward from stock center line.

having driven a 50 that was extremely lowered make sure you have AAA so after you hit debris in road your truck will get home safe. damaged oil and transmission pans are first thing that gets taken out. bottom out at 70 mph and a shock breaks. 4x4 skid plates really help just ask the low rider crowd!

He is fine and well. I'm excited to have this truck now, and can't wait to get it back on the road. It is still a big project with a long road ahead!
After spending a few days mocking up, and measuring, I'm going with 5.5" at the front of the rocker and about 7" at the back of the cab for ride height going down the road. The drop spindles and the location of the clip don't play nice with the A-arm angles. Big plans ahead! |
