Nice one. What are your plans for it?

Re: New Addition, No Name Yet
honestly... not sure just yet... its in awsome shape, but a little too far gone for a complete restoration. im thinkin its a nice candidate for a nice little street rod. so far im leaning towards an 88-98 2wd frame swap, new interior with buckets, i have a 5speed i want to throw in it, and i havnt quite made up my mind on a powerplant just yet... if i get an engine from my boss (which is where i got the truck) i have a choice of an olds 5.7 diesel, tons of 6.2 diesels, a 348 GMC, or a couple of run down 350's id like to try an ls swap and stick in a 5.3 or 6.0, but im not sure i can afford that right now... ive also tossed around the idea of running a hot little 355 or 383 with MPFI... all of which require a bigger wallet

Re: New Addition, No Name Yet
Looks like a good start...lots better than what I am starting with on my first one. Not to sound like a broken record, but the patina looks awesome! Jason

Re: New Addition, No Name Yet
Went by the truck today and got the front wheel bearings and steering free'd up from sitting all these years... and managed to drag it out from its prior grave. Will need an extra hand to get it drug out from the pasture tho, I'm hoping tomorrow, but it will depend on when i can get the extra help...
I've been doing some thinking, and I love the natural patina on the fenders as well as the roof, and front end. BUT... at some time or another, somebody did something with the doors, and its not patina, and looks like $#!T... plus the hood had been blown off some years ago and landed about 100 yards away with the top down, so the hood wont match the rest of the patina that's on the truck now. That would ruin the patina look I would want if I decided to go the patina route... instead, I think im going to end up going with a darker than normal silver but lighter than gun-metal on the body accented by a jet black roof, and rear of cab I dont really like the look of painted grills and bumpers, BUT I'm thinking having both painted black to match the rear of the cab would make a nice touch... I also cannot stand black on black wheels and tires EXCEPT for lifted 4x4 trucks (for some reason they can pull it off better than hot rods' in my opinion) but I may be swayed to throw on a set of blacked out 15" or 16" 5-spokes with a set of wide white-wall ralley tires in the rear with some skinnier ralley tires up front I'll have to see the stance of the truck once its up on the 88-98 frame before I decide if I will lower it or not (I prefer a lowered performance stance, not that draggin the frame crap that seems to be popular now-a-days)... I have a 92 k1500 in need of an engine aswell so I'm hunting around craigslist for a cheap running 2wd 88-94. That way the engine can goto my 92, the frame can goto the 55, and I will either have an abundance of spare parts for my 92, or sell off the extra parts for project money. as for the time being, the boss has an ol' mid-late 70's c20 that is supposed to have a good 350/350 running gear (other than being setup for propane and burns oil) and im deliborating on mounting the combo between the frame rails for now just to get the sucker running and driving (or alteast able to move on its own power) until I can line up or build a better powerplant, and rebuild the 5speed i have in storage (needs syncro's) I've been thinking about a stock 5.3 with a cam and valvetrain upgrade with a carb style intake manifold but still keeping some form of fuel injection (idk if they make kits now that can run the factory injection system on a carb style intake or if I would have to invest in something like an EZ EFI setup)

Re: New Addition, No Name Yet
here's the natural patina compaired to what ever the hell they did to it before
it almost looks like brown paint... like maybe it had a logo on the door at one time, but was painted over at some point, or a wire wheel grinder either way, it ruins the patina look in my opinion... rest of the truck looks awsome, but these sections KILL the look

Re: New Addition, No Name Yet
Not sure what it is, maybe the way the truck sits, but it looks like Mater from the Cars movie.

Re: New Addition, No Name Yet
I wouldn't touch the paint job on this.
