new wheel bearing STILL CLICKING?
driver side front wheel began clicking on my 82 stepside. i jacked the truck up spun the wheel no clicking. no play back and forth bearing was tight and good.
no clicking while turning and moving either.just straight and it would go up and down faster and slower i went in the truck. i pulled the wheel and took it all apart. it has newer timken bearings and races all greased well. i tapped the old races out and installed new with new timken bearings that are ridiculously packed with grease. reinstalled everything, about 50 miles later its clicking AGAIN.same thing. did i not tighten the nut that holds the spindle/hub on tight enough? i tightened it until it started to grab then backed off barely a hair to get the cotter pin in. is this wrong? any help will be appreciated

Re: new wheel bearing STILL CLICKING?
Any chance you have a nail, rock or other weirdness in that tire?
How are the brake pads? Might be the noise maker that signifies you are near end of life for the pads. |

Re: new wheel bearing STILL CLICKING?
Try a different wheel. Had centerlines that clicked like a bearing.
Put rally's on it quit.

Re: new wheel bearing STILL CLICKING?
the rotors are pretty new and very nice so im gonna do some new brake pads and inspect it all while at it again, and check the tire as well. if that doesnt do it ill swap the wheel and see if it stops. at the least itll have brand new brakes lol
i thought the brake pads near end of life would just squeal? do they make a tick?

Re: new wheel bearing STILL CLICKING?
the squealer can rust off, don't depend on them to tell you when to change the pads.
do you have wheel covers?some can pop, when rolling,a little tape on the nib can help
