6" Suspension Lift
IM GETTING READY TO ORDER A 6" SUSPENSION LIFT FOR A 1972 4X4...WHATS THE BEST BRAND TO GET ? I WANT A COMPLETE KIT WITH SHOCKS...IM MAINLY LOOKING FOR THE SMOOTHEST RIDE...IT WILL NEVER BE TAKEN OFFROAD...STREET AND HIGHWAY DRIVEN ONLY...HOW ABOUT 35" TIRE BRAND NAME PREFERENCE?

I am impressed with Tuff Country springs, but I am not as impressed with their shocks. I just changed from their 4" springs to their 6" springs and changed from their shocks to Rancho RS9000x shocks.
I am very satisfied with my Super Swamper SSR's in that size. Don't forget to get a steering stabilizer. Have you researched doing a 6" lift to know what other changes you are going to have to make?

FROM WHAT I HEARD..THE DRIVELINE SHOULD BE GOOD..I KNOW ILL NEED LONGER BRAKE LINES AND IVE BEEN TOLD A DROPPED "PITMAN ARM" AND A "STEERING ARM" OR "STEERING BLOCK"...CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHAT THOSE ARE?

if you're looking for a smooth ride you ain't goig to get it with a 6" lift and 35inch tires !!! you'll just be getting a beast that's more prone to go upside down than what you have now!! that's my opinion

Richard that link I sent you still does not work, the whole tech section of the site is down. I like my Tuff Country lift, I have skyjacker hydro shocks and like them also. Most manufactures include a raised steering arm w/ their 6" lifts and that's all you'll need to correct the steering. Though doing cross over steering is better but cost a whole lot more and is pieced together, requiring a 2wd gear box and some machine work. You should be getting close to going and getting your truck now aren't you?

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm |
