Door Problem
I am installing a new striker, plate, and latch assembly on my 72 passanger side door. I did this a year ago on the drivers side with out any problems, and now it seems that nothing is working. After I installed everything, the door needs to be slammed hard to close, and yanked hard to open. I've adjusted the striker plate a lot and no luck and have three shims on it like it did before when it worked. The door worked fine before but was starting to get tired out recently like the driver one a year ago, so since I had the parts I decided to change them. I also cannot unlock the door with my key, it just turns with no affect, and cant even pull up the lock on the inside or push it down. Any tips or suggestions. Thanks guys.

Re: Door Problem
Try removing a shim and go from there. Is it possible that something came disconnected when slamming the door?

Re: Door Problem
Nothing came off, but I tried removing shims and didn't help. I am going to try to take it all off again and see if that helps. Thanks

Re: Door Problem
Look real close at the up/down position of the striker plate. I had a similar issue and by moving the striker UP a little bit it went away.
