69 C20 Question
I am a new member to the forums and recently purchase a 69 C20. Everything is good but top end is killing me. Right now I have a 4 speed and I would like to upgrade to a five speed. What is the first year they started adding a five speed or what would be an easy swap? I'm not building a hotrod just a simple swap, same style clutch setup ect. Second is rear gearing. Not sure what kind of rear end it has. It has a what looks like a 9in. from the front but still has a plate that can be removed on the backside. I would love to know more about the rear end and how to identify my gear ratio.

Edit: I forgot to ask if this is a pickup or a Suburban/Panel truck.... If it is a pickup I will need to move the thread. to the board. The first link is everything you ever wanted to know about 5 speed swaps. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=313954 The 2nd link is how to identify your rear axle ratio. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=578793 See Post #8 or Post #19 for the ratio code location depending on what type of rear end you have... Re: 69 C20 Question
Likely a 4.10 or 4.57 in a H052 axle. It was built for hauling not freeway flying.
