Used OEM Seat Belts??

I am in need of seat belts for my 67 stepside. I have a factory bench seat in it and wanted to stick with OEM belts. I found a good source for OEM 67-72 parts. They have several pairs of used OEM seat belts in.

Would you guys buy stock OEM belts used if they look to be in good condition or should I buy new belts from LMC or another aftermarket company?

Thanks

A lot of people do. I dont trust 47 year old belts to hold me though. It would be nice to find someone to "re-belt" them.

Yea thats what I was thinking too.

So I can take the used OEM ones and re-belt them? Do you have more details about re-belting them?

Thanks

Re: Used OEM Seat Belts??

There's lots of companies that do seat belt restoration, and just new belts if that's all you need, it's not cheap though. I noticed that Brothers is now carrying a lap belt set that looks just like an OEM set, black only. If you want the original look that might be a good option. I have a set at being restored by Ssnake Oyl in Tyler Texas, if I could have used black I would have gotten the Brothers set.

Re: Used OEM Seat Belts??

Do the 67 stepsides have lap belts or shoulder belts? It looks like there is a spot to mount a shoulder belt in my cab.

Re: Used OEM Seat Belts??

Shoulder belts were an option, very rare, used sets going for about $400 for just the two piece shoulder portion. They are a real pain to use, basically two seat belts to put on and take off (lap and shoulder). If you want the safety of a modern three point system they can be had from numerous vendors.

Inspect belts. No frays, cuts,or abrasion marks? They are good to go.

Like Special-K said if they don't have any cuts or tears in them they are fine.

Why would you think they were bad?
The material doesn't weaken unless it's been damaged somehow.

Cool thanks guys. I am hoping to go check out my source next week. They tell me they have a lot of set of belts in.
