Thoughts on this 71
Hey guys,
I've been looking for a C10 for a little while and came across this truck recently. It's a few states over so I can't go check it out, and was planning on just having it shipped. It's not a super expensive truck and has some issues as expected, but I'm just trying to make sure I don't make a bad decision. It was originally a Colorado truck and is in the midwest now. Supposedly restored 12 years ago with new cab corners and such. I'm just partially worried it might be rust hidden under bondo. Anyway take a look at these pictures of the issues Drivers door ![]() Hood ![]() Hood ![]() Drivers bottom of the hood looks a little rusted out? ![]() Cab mounts ![]() ![]() |

Re: Thoughts on this 71
Welcome from Texas! First, I would ask to see if any forum members live close by and will stop by and take a look for you. If not, depending on dollar amount paid for truck, I would have seller take video of known trouble areas on these truck (cab corners, door bottoms, core support, fender cups, kick panels) and send it to you. Are looking for a Hugger orange LWB or SWB? Lot's of info here.....Good Luck!!!

Re: Thoughts on this 71
That last picture (pic 6) looks like someone was trying to cover something with fiberglass. If it were me I would make sure it is not completely rotten. I agree with SuperC10Tex, try & find someone in that area take a look at it. That last picture scares me though. If that was meant to quickly cover rust 12 years ago (and it looks to be rotting around it), who knows what else is hidden behind the paint.
Just my $.02 Now that I look closer at the second to the last picture (pic 5), it looks like an excessive amount of undercoating or something there, again, to hide whats underneath. Just does not look normal to me. |

Re: Thoughts on this 71
Thanks guys. And yeah it looks a little scary and makes me concerned about what's under the paint. It's relatively cheap at $5000 so I expected some issues, but it just looks like there might be more than I'd like. This is the truck
