So Longhorn man agrees with me about the disc brakes and Jewels agrees about the dash cluster.
Anybody else got any input on the disc brake issue? As a note, I was yackin with the guy at Early Classic Enterprises a few week ago while placing an order. I wanted to know about the 6 lug rotors they sell with their kits. He told me he had to order 400 sets at a time to have them custom made. They are not just some rotor that came off another vehicle or something. Kevin

1967 was the only year that the wing window did not have a hole in it for the latch - It was a cary over from previous years.
1968 and up have the hole.

The doors on a 1972 have a longer shaft on the window regulator because of the door panels are different and also the wing window is a little different but you would almost have to have them on a work bench to tell the difference.

yeah, they were standard in '71. here is the pic i found of Southpa's option sticker, its typed out but I don't know why he would go to the trouble of making up an RPO for discs if he added them.
left column, 2nd from bottom

option codes for brakes include
J50 Vacuum power brake equipment J56 Heavy duty brake J65 Mettallic brake facing J66 15X5 rear brakes J70brake booster hydralic J73 heavy duty brake booster hydralic J74 parking brake, spring loaded J91 Trailer brake equipment JA4 Dual brake system JP1 Frame mounted brake booster hydralic These are the codes listed in the RedBook, so a J52 could be the RPO for a optional disc brake (if one was offered) or it could be that it just fit the upgrade and was a blank code. Another distinction between 67-68 is the grille trim. The strip across the hood and down the fenders was not on 67 but is on 68.Also bright trim on the grille area was an option later in 67 but was standard in 68.

discs brakes were not offered in 70. if they were they would have to be 5 lug because 6 lug discs was never offered. there is an outside chance that dealers or even the factory could have experiment and installed 5 lug discs and 5 lug drums out back because of the widened rearend in SOME of the 70s.

That is not a correct VIN number that I can tell:
CE134-1Z58128 I have never seen a number after the dash but before the plant code. Either he is trying to say that he has a 1971 via the "1" before the plant code "Z", or else his VIN number should be CE134-Z158128. In which case, Southpa's VIN would decode as a 1971. If this is true, the he has a 1971 that would have disc brakes anyways, so the home made option sticker doesn't prove much ...
