Would LOVE to have this but my driveway is already full with my project. Haven't seen it in person, but certainly looks savable. PLEASE someone save it! It's within an hour or so drive of Washington DC.

$300?!?!? A pair of "rust free" running boards from out west go for that or more at our big swap meets in this area! Everyone has their price and I'm certainly FAR from an expert, but good lord it's probably worth more than that in scrap isn't it? I go through my local/regional Craigslist almost every day and this is only the first or second AD suburban I've seen on there in a year. Remember, this is the east coast with winter, road salt, high summer humidity, higher cost of living, etc. I see you're in Iowa so I'm sure you know a lot more about winter and road salt than me. Anyway, like I said, I'd really like to see as many saved as possible and just wanted to make sure this crowd saw it. Thanks.

Of course I love Burbs and panels, but for me personally, I got tired just looking at the photos.

No worries, I can definitely understand that. I'm definitely enjoying learning the fixing/rebuilding end of things, but I much prefer the driving as well.

The value depends how you look at it, the body condition or the sum of it's parts. The fact that it has all 3 rows is a big plus. That rear seat alone pulls big $$$$, which i have seen the sell for over 1500. Middle seat pulls decent $$$ also.

I'm like Highsider, I'm not seeing anywhere near 3K worth of burb there but that may be due to where I live. Here locally that would be a hard sell for 900 and then it would probably be viewed as a parts rig rather than a builder.

I think Highsider and I are seeing a burb that needs several thousand dollars worth of rust repair just to be the start of a project while East coast guys might be seeing something with some "rare" and hard to find pieces that is available when few are available in their area.

I haven't looked, but I recommend looking at Craigslist for Orange County, San Diego County, LA County in CA, for a reference point on what is out there.

I found mine located in So California. in good condition. It was 75% ready to toss on a new set of tires and drive 1800 miles home. (I did not drive it) It had been for sale for quite a while and the seller was ready to deal.

I mean no offense in saying this but if you've never lived in the dc area than the prices probably don't make sense. Most of the counties surrounding the district are consistently among the richest In the nation. Often times that inflated income results in things like this suburban. I personally wouldn't pay 3k for it in that shape but I wish I was there to do whatever I could to bring it home and give it new life. That's a decent find for the east coast. Having said that I live in New Mexico now and realize how bad of shape it is compared to old trucks around me. It all comes down to what is in your area and the resources you have to rebuild, I suppose.

I realize that costs and prices on these trucks are demand driven but looking at the background in the photo tells me that the seller is looking for some rube who just has to have an AD panel and hopes to get a pocket full of money off something he may not even have scrap value tied up in. We have them here too. A guy five miles from me swears that the 51/53 3/4 ton he has that has no floor boards left and is a bare cab on a stock frame is worth 2500 because he has a "good" 235 in the shed to go with it. He is mad because he says that it is a "classic" and we are crazy for thinking it isn't worth 2500. We being the approximately 20 different guys who have stopped and looked at it and told him it wasn't worth close to what he thinks it is.


All I wanted was the running boards and the top and I had 400 cash in my pocket and he could keep his valuable 235 in the shed. The running boards were totally rusted out as are the doors, floor boards and most of the other sheet metal.

I too scour Craigslist from Baltimore to F' Burg looking for deals. As of today, his ad is still active. $3K is way over priced even if this is one of the most expensive places ot live in the country. If the price was about $2K lower, my buddy Chris (muddy4rnr) would have this sitting is his garage. I did find a " needle in a haystack" deal on a supposedly running 57' swb step side locally for $400 that I am going to check out this week though

It is not worth $3k but it is worth $1800.
The seats are not worth $1500.
If you have all of them you can get $800. The other tough parts to find are worth money if they are in good shape but doubtful looking at the rest.

If you can but them at 800 for a full set buy them up and resell on a few of the purist forums and ebay. A rear just sold on ebay for over 1100 and in the past couple years they have gone significantly higher. I wouldn't pay it but some people are. I was fortunate mine had all 3 rows.

You want to see some crazy prices try finding a full set of the 3 stripe deluxe frt/rear fender trim or the deluxe front fender trim spears in restorable condition. Forget a restored set.
