99-06 seat 40/20/40 measurements
Can anyone who has installed these make some general measurements that I might be able to use to determine how much space I am losing
Really wanted a 95-99 60/40 but they are getting hard to come by and are not easy to recover. I'm aware of reinforcement of seat belts that would be needed for seatbelt reasons. Just looking for measurements. I'm a bigger guy 6'3" 240 I'm thinking floor where base boots down to top front of seat. Where your thigh is. And some how distance from the back to the steering wheel |

Re: 99-06 seat 40/20/40 measurements
I have some in mine. I'll try to remember to get some measurements in the morning after I get off work.
I will say, it's not easy to get out of the truck with them in there. I'm 6'2 and 250 and my hip gets stuck between the seat and the steering wheel as I get out. I have a tilt steering wheel that I plan to put in and push it as close to the dash as I can when I install it. Hopefully, that will help.

Sorry this took so long. Life has a tendency to get in it's own way.
Bottom of steering wheel to top of seat - 7 inches Floor to top of seat area - 14 inches Steering wheel to back of seat (where your back would touch seat) - 16 1/2 inches Firewall to front of seat with seat all the way back - 25 inches

Ok when you say floor do you mean where the seat mounts or in front of seat?
And maybe a measurement from dash bezel would be more relate able? Thanks for the help |

Re: 99-06 seat 40/20/40 measurements
"Floor" is the flat floor area in front of the raised portion where the bench seat mounted.
Bezel to very front of seat is approximately 8 1/2 inches. I am assuming my steering column is still in the stock location. I don't see anything that would lead me to believe otherwise. If you'd like some measurements on the seats or whatever, I can do that too. I have nothing to do until 3:00. Assuming, of course, my wife doesn't realize I'm just sitting on the couch. Your welcome. That's the beauty of this site. There's almost always at least one person who has done it before and can give a little help.

The sliding track on the newer seats has a bracket at the mounting point that looks like it may be able to be removed or modified to allow for a little more room, maybe 1/2 - 1 inch. I haven't pulled the seat out yet, to get a better look.

Maybe center of steering wheel straight out to the seat back
I have a newer model early 99s steering wheel that a littl smaller than the old bus wheel so maybe center is a better reference |

From my horn button to the back of the seat back - 21 1/2 inches
From the end of the steering column (if you were to remove the steering wheel) to the seat back - 24 inches

Re: 99-06 seat 40/20/40 measurements
Yeah that's my problem. If be giving up about 3-4" between me and the wheel
I'm gunna try and put my hands on one and see what the inner frame looks like kind of want to chop them anyway to lose the seatbelt and give a lower profile maybe it can be shaved or trimmed then recovered Still cheaper than buddy buckets say some on eBay for 1200 that need re upholstered |
