66 VIN Help
I've been pouring over the board and the internet for the last week looking for an answer on this and have almost given up. When I got my truck, the PO signed over the title and I took it to DMV, retitled it, no problem. The problem is, my VIN looks nothing like any of the others I have seen. I also can't seem to find anything on the truck itself. The number on the title is "I1002PD13211A". Any advice?

Re: 66 VIN Help
I haven't been able to find a vin tag. Is there anywhere that the number would be stamped?

Re: 66 VIN Help
Looks like a gmc vin id. GMC vin #'s were much different than chevy vin #'s. You should find a matching serial number on top of the frame rail inside the engine bay. Driver side over top of where the a-arm sits.
Edit: 7/22 No frame stamp on the GMC's I1002PD13211A I = Inline engine 10 = 1000 series 02 = 127" wheel base P = Pontiac plant' D = inlined engines for 66 gmcs 13211 = serial #.......they started at 10,0001 that year A = 6,000lbs gvw or less

Re: 66 VIN Help
As far as I know the GMC frames are not stamped with the VIN. All the OP will have to go by in the tag in the door jamb. Hopefully it is present.

Re: 66 VIN Help
I agree with captain fab . Ive never seen or owned a GMC that had the vin number stamped on the frame. if the tag on the door jamb isn't there you more or less have a truck without a valid title.

Re: 66 VIN Help
Thanks all for the help! Unfortunately, there are no tags that I could find. I haven't gotten through all of the boxes of parts yet, so it could be laying in the bottom of a box, but it definitely isn't on the truck.
