Good bye to Ol Gordon

Well my old 66 gmc is going away. We've had a good run, but it's going to a good cause. The original owner's grandson tracked me down and they want her back.

Well, it is neat it's going to the grandson of the original owner.
Tell them about this forum.
Perhaps they'll join.

Legacy truck!
Congrats to the grandson, and to you for giving her up. It can be tough to do that.

Its very cool that you decided to return it to the original family. I wondered last night myself if I could do the same. I still see my original 63 around town once or twice a year. We got that stepside when I was 8 or 9 (somewhere in there), learned to drive a clutch on that truck, was the 1st vehicle I owned, and the 1st that I crashed due to losing a front wheel cylinder on a single pot system while going downhill when I was around 17. It sat in my folks garage for a few years while I chased the world and played roughstock rodeo cowboy when I wasn't logging. By time I got interested again my folks had sold it, which was ok, but they also let loose the 427 big block that was in the bed.....aarg. An old man bought it and did the repairs which were extensive.....it was a 5 car wreck by time the truck was stopped in rush hour traffic on a October Saturday night in the city. I have a lot of memories with that truck, but I have 2 other 63's now and if I could get it back again I would, but on the other hand......I don't know if I could let loose the ones I have.

But I do commend you on being able to.

Re: Good bye to Ol Gordon

I commend you for giving up your truck! My buddy had a 61 sb step side and after 7 years, the son of the dude he bought it off of wanted to buy it back to keep it in the family. My buddy caved in and sold it to him. At least he made a little $ for it.
