stalls when hard braking

70 250 l6. Rebuilt carb from orileys. Sometimes when making a less than perfect stop it will die. Starts right up and may not do it again. Won't do it on a easy stop. Vacuum advance is full vacuum. Any thoughts. I do have 2 fuel filters.

Float is set to high. Floods enough to kill it.

Re: stalls when hard braking

I figured it was float related. Makes the 3rd carb from orileys.

Re: stalls when hard braking

I tried 2 fuel filters once because I didn't have the money for a new tank at the time. I cleaned it out and it was still dirtying up filters, so I thought, hey, 2 would be a great idea to keep the car clean.

Not so much. Truck wouldn't run well. The stock pump couldn't pull enough fuel through 2 filters. Went back to one and she ran fine. Try getting rid of a filter and see what happens.

I know how to lower the float but having spent w bills for the carb they will make it right. With a warranty shouldn't gave to fix something 4 days old.

Oriley's stands being their stuff at least here. Will have a replacement at noon today. If it wasn't new I would have lowered the float. I think something that was "quality checked" should work. Thanks for the replies.

O'reillys is just a small notch above Pep Boys. That "warranty" just means you get another carb just like the one you have...which isn't working.

All of us want a Playboy Bunny for a wife who will be happy wearing grain sacks for dresses, will never get fat or pregnant and won't spend our money but we all also know that is an impossible dream.

Forget the warranty, learn to set up your carb correctly and enjoy driving your truck!

I would never install a rebuilt Carburetor, warranted or not, without bench checking all of settings and adjustments first. It takes less time and frustration to do that than to remove and return the first one.

Shoulda, coulda woulda
Should have not asked the question
Could have been shopping at napa like the rest
Would have prevented folks from making assumptions.
But I did learn a lot.

Here's one you left off your list:
