Horn cap bushing for a 68
Hi Guys,
Does anyone know where I can get a horn cap bushing for my 68 Chevy with the oem steering wheel? Been looking for a while. I had ordered one from LMC but it will be on backorder for six weeks! I see a bunch that fit the post 69 models but not as many for 67, 68 years. Will this one fit? Even though it claims to fit all 60-72 models? Are there major differences for this part for different years? http://www.classictruck.com/product/...tton_Cap_Items Thanks! |

Re: Horn cap bushing for a 68
Yup theres a difference. The 67-68 plastic trim piece is flat and does not have the raised mounting holes

Re: Horn cap bushing for a 68
Thanks for the clarification Mike and John!
I think I figured it out, and please correct me if I am wrong. I am just typing this out as a reference for the next fellow looking for this info. The horn button insulator/grommet/bushing are STANDARD for all 1960-72 trucks. The horn cap retainer kits from 1960-72 are not universal. There are TWO different types, even though both kits share the same horn button insulator/grommet/bushing: 1. 60-68 all use the same retainer kit 2. 69-72 all use the same retainer kit Here is a link to the truck and car shop that has pictures of all of these items. http://www.truckandcarshop.com/trucks60_72/t60_058.html Thanks for all the help! |
