Question shot in the dark

ok the the guy I got my 69 GMC from removed a few leafs out of the leaf springs to lower the truck......I have got my pinion angle close....what I am wondering is do you guys think that becase there are leafs missing that it is allowing the rear end to over flex on accelertation and that could be the reason that I am still eating rear ujoints????just a shot in the dark.....any advice would be wonderful......thanks..........

Re: shot in the dark

It could!
One piece or two piece driveshaft?
What's your pinion angle?
What's the angle on your tranny output?
Are you checking your pinion angle with the suspension loaded?

Re: shot in the dark

Try some spring clamps. Clamp the leafs togethor in the front. Make them yourself out of 1/4 inch flat plate.
Or try a pinion snubber. Not hard to build one to see if the pinion is climbing too far.
Here's some troubleshooting links.

Re: shot in the dark

have you had the drive line checked for balanced? how is the carrier bearing? Is the truck a short bed conversion? maybe the drive line was not done right? just some ideas...

Welding is a lot like sex, you don't have to be great with the rod as long as you thoroughly prep the surface and your good at grinding
